BURLINGTON CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Officials tell Action News that a replica of a hand grenade was found on the playground of a school in Burlington City, New Jersey.
The incident began shortly after 8:00 a.m. at the Wilbur Watts Elementary School at 550 High Street.
Officers were in the area of the school when they discovered a suspicious item that looked like a hand grenade.
The bomb squad was called to dispose of the device.
Around 9:30 a.m. the area was deemed safe. The item found appeared to be a replica of a hand grenade, officials say.
Students were allowed back into their classrooms to resume normal activities.
There are no reports of any injuries.
There is no word on how the device ended up on the school grounds.
The incident is under investigation.
