Truckers, techies, marketing mavens and clinicians among occupations to consider based on supply and demand
Looking for a new job in the New Year? CareerBuilder partnered with Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. to compile a list of hot jobs for 2015 based on supply and demand.
The list features occupations for which the number of jobs companies post each month significantly outpaces the number of people they're actually able to hire, showing where companies are hungry for talent and how much the positions pay.
CareerBuilder and EMSI looked at the average number of people hired per month in more than 700 occupations from January 2013 to August 2014 and compared that to the number of job postings for each occupation aggregated from online job sites for the same period.
Among occupations that require a college education and have the largest gap between job openings and hires are:
Marketing Executive
Software Developer, Applications
Registered Nurse
Industrial Engineer
Network and Computer System Administrator
Web Developer
Medical and Health Services Manager
Physical Therapist
Speech-Language Pathologist
Sales Manager
Among occupations that don't require a college degree, but have gaps between job openings and hires are:
Truck Driver, Heavy and Tractor-Trailer
Merchandise Displayer and Window Trimmer
Orderly
Sales Representative, Wholesale and Manufacturing
Purchasing Manager
Medical Records and Health Information Technician
Telemarketer

Some occupations may require additional training after high school.
