Car slams into tree in Gloucester County, N.J.

WASHINGTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A driver lost control of their car and slammed the vehicle into a tree in Washington Township, New Jersey early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 1:15 a.m. on Greentree Road near Bells Lake Drive.

Rescuers had to pull the female driver and male passenger out of the wrecked car.

Both victims were taken to Cooper hospital with multiple injuries.

They are in critical condition.

Investigators say there were no signs of impairment.

They are trying to determine why the driver lost control.
