PITTSTON, Pa. (WPVI) -- The toppling of a giant marble statue drew a crowd in a northeast Pennsylvania town.
Police say a driver jumped the curb, smashed into a fence, and slammed into the base of the Christopher Columbus statue in Pittston Wednesday night.
The statue came crashing down on the back of the car, smashing the rear window.
The driver was taken to the hospital. There is no word on that person's condition.
The solid marble statue was not damaged.
Officials plan to put it back up once the fence is repaired.
