Photo released of suspect in Del. trooper shooting, more charges filed

BEAR, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have filed additional charges after a trooper was shot in his body armor during the execution of a search warrant last week.

John Greenlee, 50, surrendered on Monday morning to face nine additional charges in connection with the incident.

Those charges are 2nd-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and seven counts of reckless endangerment.

Greenlee was arraigned and released after posting $42,501 secured bond, state police said.

The shooting incident happened around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Powell Court in the Red Lion Chase development.

State police were executing a search warrant on a home there looking for Greenlee's son, a suspect wanted in last month's casino robbery at Caesar's in Atlantic City.

Authorities say John Greenlee opened fire from a second floor stairway as the troopers entered the home.

Police say the officers were able to arrest Greenlee without returning fire.

The trooper hit by gunfire suffered just minor injuries. He was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was treated and released.

The suspect's son, Nathaniel, was not in the home at the time, police said.

However, he found in Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon and taken into custody.
