NEW YORK, N.Y. (WPVI) -- Tuesday is Diabetes Alert Day, a day to sound the alarm about the growing number of people living with type 2 diabetes.
There are millions of Americans who have type 2 diabetes, or who have a precursor to the disease and they don't know it.
So today is a wake up call.
The American Diabetes Association wants people to take a quick online survey.
It will ask you simple questions to help determine your risk for type 2 diabetes.
If you have pre-diabetes, you can still prevent it from turning into full blown diabetes with changes to your diet and lifestyle.
And if you have type 2 diabetes, working with a healthcare provider can help you prevent serious complications, such as kidney failure, blindness and heart disease.
Take the risk assessment test HERE.
It takes just about a minute to fill out.
If you get a higher than normal score, talk to your healthcare provider.
