CENTER CITY -- Philadelphia leads the nation in organ donation.
But, of course, there's always room for more people to sign up to become donors.
The Gift of Life donor program marked Donate Life Month Thursday by honoring Thomas Jefferson University Hospital as the state's top hospital in raising donor awareness.
It also presented the hospital with a "threads of life" quilt, which is made of blocks dedicated to organ and tissue donors.
Similar Threads of Life quilts hang in the Gift of Life's family house, as well as in the organization's partner hospitals.
In 42 years, the Gift of Life has coordinated more than 40,000 organ transplants and 600,000 tissue transplants in our area.
To find out how you can help, go to the Gift of Life website. You can even sign up to be a donor online.
