Police: Donovan McNabb was DUI at twice the legal limit

Police in Arizona say former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was driving at more than twice the legal limit when he was arrested on DUI charges.

Investigators released the results of the BAC test, showing his blood alcohol level was .171.

The legal limit in the state of Arizona is .08. The Gilbert Police Department said it considers a BAC of .15 to be 'extreme DUI.'

It was his second DUI arrest within two years.

Police say that, per Arizona law, if McNabb is convicted of his second DUI he faces a mandatory 90 days in prison and a maximum of six months.

This update comes after video was released showing McNabb's arrest back on June 28th after he rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at a red light.

In the video, the arresting officer and McNabb can be heard speaking.

Officer: Any recent head injuries?

McNabb: Listen, I played football.

Officer: I know who you are.

In the video, McNabb said he was trying to go home and had not been drinking. Instead, he says he was sick and had taken cough medicine.

McNabb served a day in jail in April 2014 after pleading guilty in another DUI case resulting from a Dec. 15, 2013, arrest in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community east of Phoenix. He also was ordered to pay a fine of nearly $1,500 and enter an outpatient treatment program in Scottsdale.

McNabb played 13 years in the NFL after being drafted with the second overall pick in 1999.

He led the Philadelphia Eagles to four straight NFC championship games from 2001 to 2004 and one Super Bowl berth that ended in a 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots in 2005.

McNabb played for the Washington Redskins in 2010 and Minnesota Vikings in 2011 before retiring.
