EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WPVI) -- A young man with a lifelong dream has overcome some big hurdles to achieve his fitness goal.

Twenty-two-year-old Collin Clarke of Evansville, Indiana, has Down syndrome.

He was working the desk at Bob's Gym when he saw trainer and professional bodybuilder Glenn Ubelhor practicing his routine.

When Ubelhor saw Clarke imitating those moves, he decided to take him on as a student.

In the past year, Clarke lost 60 pounds, completely toned up and is almost ready for his first competition.

He'll have 60 seconds on stage to perform his routine.

Glenn says Clarke will do well because of his fierce determination.

"That's Clarke. He's just hungry. He's never nervous. He's just excited," says Ubelhor.

Clarke was asked if he had a message for others trying to pursue their dream.

"I would say never give up, never quit. Try harder. Push harder. And give it all," says Clarke.

He will have his family, friends and everyone from the gym rooting for him.

And he hopes his performance will inspire others.
