PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- More than half of all men will have signs of an enlarged prostate at some point. In recent years, medications were the prime treatment. But that's changing.

"The pendulum is, sort of, swinging back a little bit," Dr. Daniel Canter of Einstein Health said.

Dr. Canter says less-invasive procedures, such as the Plasma Button are giving men new options.

It removes excess tissue, with less trauma than older methods.

"The button is a cylindrical electrode that literally vaporizes the tissue in a much more controlled manner, so that the blood loss is very minimal," Dr. Canter said.

Paul Gyurian went home within hours after his Plasma Button procedure.

And he's happy he no longer gets up several times a night.

About half a dozen area hospitals are using the Plasma Button.
