An officer suffered minor injuries while apprehending an unlicensed teen driver who crashed at the scene of a fire in Trenton.

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- An officer suffered minor injuries while apprehending an unlicensed teen driver who crashed at the scene of a fire in Trenton.



It happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the unit block of Elmhurst Avenue.



A two-alarm fire broke out at a home there. Crews were able to bring the blaze under control.



Police tell Action News that the 16-year-old driver struck some of the emergency vehicles at the scene.



After crashing, authorities say the teen got out and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.



A Trenton police officer suffered minor injuries during the pursuit and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.



As for the fire, no injuries were reported but the flames caused extensive damage to the home.



The cause remains under investigation.
