Woman charged in fortune teller scam

DEVON, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police said a woman scammed a victim out of $24,000 under the guise of a spiritual adviser.

The victim said she told 56-year-old Semeinta "Sam" Siganoff, about her poor health and troubles with a bad divorce.

Siganoff told the victim she could help her, but would need the finances to perform certain rituals.

When the victim realized things in her life weren't getting better, she decided to contact the police.

"Through the promise of fortune telling and the kind of healing that could be associated with fortune telling and lighting candles, this person - the defendant - took advantage of the victim for upwards of $24,000," said Michael Noone, First Assistant Chester County D.A.

Siganoff operates Main Line Psychic on Lancaster Avenue in Devon.

The business is also known as "Astrology by Samantha" and "Devon Astrology."

Siganoff offers $10 specials and "chakra balancing and meditation".

However, a local health spa operator and neighbor to Siganoff, said despite not working much, Siganoff and her family live exceptionally well.

"After a while I'm thinking, you know, why they drive so many fancy cars and stuff like that, but they cannot pay?" said Thu Hoang.

Noone said police are concerned there could be more victims.

Signaoff has bee charged with theft by deception and fortune telling. She has been released on $10,000 bond.
