Police: Male in custody after attempting to steal Philadelphia officer's gun

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have a male in custody after they say, he tried to steal an officer's gun in North Philadelphia.

The incident was reported around 9:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of 23rd Street and Lehigh Avenue.

Police called for an officer assist, and the male was quickly apprehended.

The officer was not hurt.

Police have not said what caused the altercation.

They say the suspect does have an outstanding warrant.
