MONROE TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A community in the Poconos is coming together to help the man who keeps getting mistaken for an accused cop killer.

James Tully says police have confronted him about two dozen times, as he makes his five-mile hike to work in Canadensis.

The police say he resembles fugitive Eric Frein, who is from that area.

Tully says he walks the route daily because he cannot afford a car.

So after news reports about him began circulating, friends set up an online fundraiser aimed at getting him a car and insurance.

The goal was to raise $2,500.

After just one day, the fundraiser collected more than $10,000 and continues to grow.
