Police car crashes on way to house fire in Media

A police officer was hurt when his car spun out on icy roads on his way to a house fire in Delaware County.

MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- A police officer was injured in a crash while in route to a house fire in Delaware County Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 9:00 a.m. on the 500 block of Washington Avenue in Media.

When firefighters arrived there was heavy fire on the second and third floors of the twin home.

The fire then spread to the attached home.

There are no reports of injuries in the homes.

Meanwhile, a Nether Providence police officer was travelling through Rose Valley on his way to the scene of the fire when, on the unit block of West Rose Valley Road, the police cruiser was involved in a single vehicle accident.

The officer was transported to the hospital with back pain.

Icy roads may have been a contributing factor.
