NASA builds the next generation car

NASA has created a modular robotic vehicle that can drive sideways and will eventually be able to drive itself.

Officials say they built the vehicle to advance driving technology in space and on earth.

It has four independent wheels capable of turning 180 degrees.

It's described as "like driving on ice but having complete control."

Top speed is 43 miles per hour.
