New Jersey police are cracking down on distracted driving.

Starting Wednesday, police in New Jersey will be targeting distracted drivers across the state.

It's part of a national crackdown called "You Drive, You Text, You Pay."

April is distracted driving awareness month.

38 police departments across the Garden State received $5,000 to beef up distracted driving patrols.

Officials say many other agencies are expected to participate unfunded.
