Boys toss cigarettes into New Jersey osprey nest. Rick Williams reports during Action News at 5pm on May 5, 2017.

MAURICE RIVER, N.J. (WPVI) -- An osprey nest in Maurice River, Cumberland County was disturbed by a group of kids, and it was caught on camera.

The incident was recorded on surveillance video. Action News has blurred their faces because they are juveniles.

You can see a group of boys walk up to the nest at the East Point Light House.

One of the boys tossed a pack of cigarettes into the nest.

Experts say this is enough to scare the birds off and prevent them from returning.

Anyone with information is asked to call the DEP Tip line at 1-877-WARN-DEP.
