PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An American Airlines flight headed to Philadelphia was diverted for a time at the Manchester Airport due to a sick passenger, an airline spokesman told Action News.

American Airlines Flight AA717 took off from Munich, Germany Wednesday on its to way Philadelphia.

The spokesman says the plane was diverted to Manchester Airport in England so the passenger could be taken off the flight.

That passenger remained in England for medical attention.

The plane then took off again and was scheduled to land in Philadelphia at 6 p.m.

"We are working on re-accommodating customers who may have connections out of Philadelphia on other flight," the spokesman said.
