Armed robber targets Center City men's store

Philadelphia police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a popular men's store in Center City last week.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are on the hunt for an armed robber who targeted a popular men's store in Center City on Wednesday.

Police say the suspect walked into the Ubiq store on the 1500 block of Walnut Street around 1:20 p.m.

He picked out three pairs of shoes and brought them up to the counter.

As he was getting ready to pay for the shoes, he pulled a handgun from his pocket.

The suspect told the clerk he wanted the items for free and demanded money from the cash register.

After the employee handed over the money, the robber then fled the store eastbound on Walnut Street towards 15th street.

No injuries were reported during this robbery.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 20 years-old, 5'7" tall and 145 lbs. He was wearing a dark gray jacket, jeans, black sneakers with orange laces and armed with a handgun.
