MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- A 1-year-old cat that was beaten and nearly killed is recovering at the Delaware County SPCA.
Animal workers have named the brown tabby "Darby" in reference to the Pine Street Bridge where it was found.
Police say an 11-year-old boy hit the cat against the guard rail and tried throwing the feline in the river, but she escaped.
Good Samaritans driving by alerted authorities and helped rescue Darby.
She initially had trouble walking, but is now doing better.
The SPCA plans to charge the juvenile with animal cruelty.
