Gas leak closes elementary school in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA - April 4, 2014 (WPVI) -- A natural gas leak has forced the closure of an elementary school in West Philadelphia.

It happened at the W.C. Bryant Promise Academy at 60th Street and Cedar Avenue.

A Philadelphia School District spokesman said students have been asked to report to Anderson Elementary School on Friday for a half-day session.

Anderson is located at 1034 S. 60th Street.

Students will be dismissed from there at 11:30 a.m.

There was no immediate word when Bryant Promise Academy would reopen.
