Kids in Delaware bonded with police while fishing

GLASGOW, Del. (WPVI) -- The rain didn't keep dozens of kids from getting their first experience fishing in Delaware.

The kids lined up along the water in Glasgow Park for an event called "Casting with Cops."

New Castle County Police provided the rods and reels while hosting demonstrations, raffles, and giveaways.

Organizers hope it will help youngsters and the police develop a stronger relationship.

New Castle County Police Col. Christopher Gelati said, "We don't want the kids out there to be afraid of police officers. They want to see us in an environment like this, when we interact with them and have a good time."

All the fish caught today was released back into the water.
