WASHINGTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia man has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly southern New Jersey home invasion that occurred nearly 10 years ago.

Gloucester County prosecutors said Monday that 43-year-old John Blocker also faces counts of kidnapping, robbery and burglary. They say he was arrested at the Philadelphia home of a female acquaintance and was being held on $1 million bail, pending an extradition hearing.

The charges stem from the January 2006 death of Juan Cuevas.

Prosecutors say intruders entered Cuevas' Washington Township home while he and his wife were out and bound their three teenage children. Cuevas was beaten to death when he returned home later that day.

The children eventually escaped and contacted police.

It wasn't known Monday if Blocker has retained an attorney.
