Police in Camden are searching for a gunman after a man was shot five times and survived.

CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Authorities have identified a man who died after being shot five times in Camden.

Action News is told 44-year-old Andre Matthews of Camden initially survived his wounds, but died later at Cooper University Hospital.

Prosecutors say the shooting happened at 3:12 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Pershing Street.

Police were alerted to the shooting not by 911 callers, but by ShotSpotter, a technology which monitors gunfire throughout the city.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
