Allentown police told Action News that officers responded to an apparent burglary in progress, which led to the pursuit and ultimately gunfire.
The shooting that followed led to several injuries, though none are considered to be life-threatening.

What ended with a barrage of bullets, police said started as a burglary about a mile away.
Detectives said they spotted suspects who had just broken into a home on the 300 block of Johnson Street and when they tried to stop the bandits it triggered a chase.
The view from Chopper 6 showed a number of police vehicles on the scene.
Resident watched in horror from their doorsteps as police swarmed the suspects at 2nd and Brookdale.

Police said one of the suspects was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
