Upper Darby man charged with beating his elderly mother over the course of a week

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) -- A 52-year-old Delaware County man has been charged with beating his mother in Upper Darby.

Police said Christopher Pergolese beat his 81-year-old mother over the course of a week.

His charges include aggravated assault and strangulation.

According to police, the photos of the victim are "simply unbearable to look at."

At this time there is no word on her condition.
