Philadelphia man killed in Pa. Turnpike crash; 2 others injured

A 21-year-old Philadelphia man was killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Carbon County.

PENN FOREST TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A 21-year-old Philadelphia man was killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Carbon County.

It happened Sunday along the Northeast Extension in Penn Forest Township.

Pennsylvania State Police tell Action News the driver, identified as 20-year-old James Jamal Walker of Norristown, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to spin several times before smashing into an embankment.

The victim, identified as Derek Charles Mitchell, was ejected from a rear passenger seat, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

Two other passengers were taken to local hospitals for unknown injuries.

At this time, there is no word on if the driver will face any charges.
