Schuylkill Expressway reopens after 2nd fatal motorcycle crash

FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- One person was killed after a motorcycle accident on the Schuylkill Expressway in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia.

It happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes of the expressway near Girard Avenue.

Police said a motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when he lost control and went over the median.

The cyclist landed in the westbound lanes and was fatally struck by a westbound vehicle.

The expressway was closed eastbound at Montgomery Drive and Westbound at Girard Avenue overnight.

This was the second fatal motorcycle accident on the Schuylkill Expressway in the city Thursday.
