Suspect slashes woman while trying to steal purse

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are working to track down a violent thief who slashed a woman while stealing her purse.

It happened last Thursday morning on the 100 block of South 60th Street.

Surveillance video released Tuesday shows a 41-year-old woman trying to get away from the thief who is slicing through the strap of her purse.

Police say the attacker slashed the victim's arm in the process, seriously injuring her.

The purse snatcher then fled, leaving the woman bleeding on the street.
