MIAMI -- Major League Baseball player and former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Delmon Young was arrested after authorities say he choked and threatened a parking attendant at a Miami hotel.
A police report says the current free agent grabbed the attendant's neck and called him a "stupid Cuban" Sunday night. The attendant told police he had refused to let Young on an elevator to a club at the Viceroy Miami, because the club was closed. The report says Young left the area for a short time but then returned and attacked the attendant again.
The attendant got away and called police. The report says Young denied attacking the attendant.
He was arrested and charged with battery. Jail records show he was released Monday morning on $1,500 bail.
Young's attorney declined to comment on Monday.
Young played for the Phillies in 2013.
