6 injured after crash involving police vehicle in Olney

OLNEY (WPVI) -- Six people were injured in a crash involving a Philadelphia police vehicle on Wednesday in the Olney section.

The crash happened shortly after noon at 3rd and Tabor streets.

Following the collision, a police SUV came to rest in front of a church with its front end against the building. The black car involved came to a stop right on the church steps.

Police tell Action News the two female officers had been responding, with lights and sirens, to assist another officer.

When they came to the intersection, they collided with the black sedan carrying two adult women and two girls in the back seat.

"You know I heard the sirens and then my daughter ran out first. And she said oh my God, it's a bad accident," said Tracy Harris.

George Lightly was doing work nearby and came to have a look.

"The lady in the other car was driving the car with her mother. She got out and started screaming at the cops. Somebody had to calm her down cause she had kids," he said.

Everyone in both cars was taken to Einstein Medical Center either for treatment or observation. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Police tell Action News that the driver of the black sedan was driving with a suspended license.
