FRANKFORD (WPVI) -- Two Philadelphia police officers are recovering from injuries they sustained while responding to a garage fire.
The flames were reported before 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Arrott Street in Frankford.
Police say a vehicle inside the garage exploded, sending fragments of a metal bumper flying about 100 feet.
Two 15th district officers were struck by the debris.
One suffered a broken leg. The other suffered cuts.
Both were taken to Aria Health/Torresdale to be treated. Both are expected to be okay.
There was no immediate word what sparked the fire.
