
MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Dozens of train enthusiasts gathering in Berks County to catch a glimpse of a historic locomotive were overcome by the extreme heat Thursday as temperatures soared across the region.
Chopper 6 was overhead at Reading Outer Station along Pottsville Pike in Muhlenberg Township, where first responders treated multiple people under tents. Some individuals were transported on stretchers.
According to police, more than 35 people have been impacted. One person went into cardiac arrest and was revived at the scene, officials said.

One of the youngest victims treated is 7 years old.

Large crowds have been gathering to see Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014, which is traveling across the country as part of events marking America's 250th anniversary.

The locomotive is recognized as the largest operating steam locomotive in the world.

The heat index climbed above 110 degrees in some locations, creating dangerous conditions for people spending extended periods outdoors.
The locomotive is scheduled to be on display at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on July 4 and 5.
