SOMERTON (WPVI) -- An elementary school in Philadelphia's Somerton section was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after a report of a person with a gun in the area.

The report came around 8:10 a.m. when a construction worker reported a man wearing sweats carrying what appeared to be a rifle walking toward Loesche Elementary School on the 11000 block of Bustleton Avenue.

A lockdown was put in place and police responded to the school.

Officers checked the school, found nothing, and the lockdown was lifted at 9:40.

However, as a precaution the school will hold indoor recess today.
