Car catches fire on WB Schuylkill Expressway near I-676

A car fire temporarily shut down all westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway near the Vine Street Expressway.

The fire was reported around 12:00 p.m. Thursday.

When the fire department arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Officials say everyone was able to get out of the burning vehicle.

Traffic was backed up approaching the scene.

The scene was cleared around 12:45 p.m.
