This week's winning rescue group in 6abc's Shelter Me Contest is Res-Q-Pets in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Res-Q-Pets was formed in 2006 and since then has found homes for more than 1,500 cats and dogs.
Angela Gould, President says, "A lot of the ones we have are either older and disabled. The ones that other groups won't take - the young ones we have come with issues and we get them fixed. We do get some puppies that are ready to go but usually its somebody that takes a little while."
The rescue operates solely as a foster network, so they primarily take in the smaller animals.
"Where some groups have a shelter, we don't have that. We foster in our homes so we have basically a network of people that work with us and we'll call up and we'll say hi can you take a puppy, hi can you take a dog and they do," said Gould
It couldn't be done without donations and dedicated volunteers.
Gould says, "There's no way to run the group without them. There really isn't the fosters and the people that do all the hands on are what make up the group without them there isn't any."
