$10 million city park upgrade

SPRING GARDEN (WPVI) -- Construction is officially underway on the long-talked about "Reading Viaduct Rail Park".

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Governor Tom Wolf helped break ground Monday on the 10 million dollar Phase One.

The elevated track, now abandoned and overgrown, will be turned into a green park for recreation.

This stretch curves from Broad to Callowhill.

Completion is expect in early 2018.
