High School Huddle: Like father, like son

Brandon Dooley, a junior offensive center on the Colonials, knows a thing or two about winning.

"I was fortunate to get first team all-state football baseball and wrestling," Brandon said.

It's a feat that no Colonial athlete has accomplished in 28 years. The last to do so was Brandon's father Marvin Dooley

"If you're going to get one upped by your son there is no better feeling like that," Marvin, head football, wrestling, and baseball coach at William Penn High School in Delaware said.

In fact, Brandon can attribute much of his success to his dad, who's also his coach in all three sports.

Brandon wrestles in winter, plays first base in spring and heads up the front five on the offensive line in fall.

Brandon has won state championships in both football and wrestling and he's done it all while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

"I had one of the best partners in wrestling that pushed me to get a state championship title," Brandon said.

And for dad, who took the same title back in the day, victory was even sweeter the second time around.

"I've never been so nervous in my life. But when he won it. I can tell you, I won it twice, I know the feeling, but when you're a dad, it's even more special than you wining it," Marvin said.
