Officials: Underground fire causes major issues along North Broad Street

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating an underground fire causing major issues in the city's Ogontz section.

The incident began Tuesday between the 5600 and 5800 blocks of N. Broad Street.

Officials say multiple manhole covers have blown off into the street and nearby buildings.

An estimated 50-to-60 people have been evacuated, according to authorities.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
