The contents of the oldest time capsule in the United States are set to be revealed Tuesday.
The Boston Museum of Fine Arts and state officials will open the time capsule.
It will reveal the contents for the first time since it was unearthed in 1855.
The 1795 Boston time capsule was placed in the Massachusetts State House corner stone by the midnight rider Paul Revere, William Scollay, and Founding Father Samuel Adams.
The time capsule weighs about 10 pounds and was x-rayed at the Museum of Fine Arts on December 14, 2014.
The contents of this container are believed to be a collection of:
-Silver and copper coins (dating from 1652 and 1855)
-Engraved silver plate
-Copper medal depicting George Washington
-Newspapers
-The seal of the Commonwealth
-Cards
-Title page from the Massachusetts Colony Records
The collection is expected to eventually be put into a new container and put back to it's original resting place in the corner stone of the state house.
