Police fire at man with gun in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia police opened fire on a gunman in West Philadelphia.

It happened shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday at 55th and Arch streets.

Police responding to a report of a person with a gun happened upon a man fitting the description.

A foot pursuit ensued.

During the pursuit, one officer fired one shot at the suspect, missing the man.

The suspect was apprehended and a gun was recovered along the 100 block of North 55th Street.

There were no injuries.
