McCain stops using songs from Mellencamp

The 56-year-old singer was a John Edwards supporter, and is a self-described liberal.

His publicist sent a letter to McCain's presidential campaign to point out these facts. The whole thing has apparently made Mellencamp uncomfortable; he can't imagine why McCain would want to be associated with him.

The McCain camp has agreed to stop playing Mellencamp's songs at campaign events.

Perhaps McCain will replace those songs with ones by Capitol Offense - the band that features Republican rival Mike Huckabee on bass guitar. Political pundits have speculated that the Arizona senator is considering Huckabee as a running mate.
