Philadelphia police shot a suspect while trying to arrest him.

It happened near the intersection of 27th and Cumberland Streets around 7:00.

Police say officers were trying to arrest the man when he pointed a gun at them.

The officers fired, shooting the suspect in the head.

He was taken to Temple Hospital in critical condition.

No word on why officers were trying to arrest him, but investigators said he had a weapon.

The shooting is the fourth involving police since Charles Ramsey took over as police commissioner in January.
