Court: Whitman not liable in 9/11 lawsuits

NEW YORK (AP) - April 22, 2008

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan made the ruling this morning.

It said Whitman apparently reassured people about the safety around the site based on conflicting information and reassurances by the White House.

A lawsuit said residents, students and workers in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn were exposed to hazardous dust and debris after the twin towers fell. It said Whitman should be forced to pay damages to properly clean homes, schools and businesses.
