Accused Uma Thurman stalker: NYC police duped me
NEW YORK (AP) - April 25, 2008 Jack Jordan, 37, is accused of trying to get into Thurman's
trailer on a Manhattan movie set, appearing at her downtown
Manhattan house, and sending the actress and her relatives numerous
e-mails.
Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro said a
pretrial hearing was likely to conclude Friday, and he will decide
whether Jordan's statements to police can be used as evidence.
Detective Edward Yzaguirre testified Thursday that Jordan told
him he saw Thurman on a movie theater screen, their eyes met and he
knew they had a connection and their relationship was meant to be.
He also said "no promises were made" to Jordan, who is facing
trial on two misdemeanor counts.
Jordan, who said he lives in Maryland's Montgomery County, was
arrested in October 2007 on charges of stalking Thurman for two
years. He has been free on $10,000 bail.
He testified at Thursday's hearing that police falsely told him
he could go home as soon as he answered questions about trying to
contact Thurman.
His lawyer, George Vomvolakis, said in January that he hoped to
avoid a trial and work out a plea deal in which Jordan, a former
mental patient, would enter a psychiatric program.
Thurman, 37, is expected to testify next week. Her screen
credits include "Pulp Fiction," "The Producers" and the "Kill
Bill" movies.
