Phillip Koech was the first to finish, with an unofficial time of 46:22. Koech's time is short of the record 45:14 set by Patrick Cheriuyot in 2007.
Jane Murage is the women's winner of the 2008 Broad Street Run with a time of 54:16.
The Broad Street Run is the second largest 10-mile race in the nation, with more than 18,000 racers taking part. The run starts at the Central High School Athletic Field at Broad Street and Somerville Avenue and finishes inside the Philadelphia Navy Yard at the end of Broad Street in South Philadelphia.
Donations and pledges raised by the racers benefit the American Cancer Society.
