Free ride may end for Philly students

PHILADELPHIA - June 21, 2008 In Philadelphia children through the sixth grade ride School buses.

But older students ride Public buses, subways and trolleys - and the district subsidizes the cost of those rides.

But school officials believe they could save $8-million a year by eliminating free transit passes for those who live within two miles of their schools.

They're also considering making 85-percent attendance a requirement to get passes.
