Too old for basketball?

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - July 25, 2008

Not for Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman. The woman who was known as Lady Magic, suited up for the Detroit Shock last night.

She was signed to a seven-day contract yesterday, and had about nine minutes on the court against Houston.

The Old Dominion University great had already become the oldest player in WNBA back 1997, when she played for Phoenix at age 39.

Lieberman didn't get any points against the kids last night. But she did have a pair of assists, including a no-look pass in the closing minutes of the 79-61 loss to the Comets.

Lieberman says she had a great time. The Shock signed Lieberman in the wake of the brawl with the Los Angeles Sparks and player suspensions earlier this week.
