Flames ignite South Phila. home

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - January 18, 2009 Firefighters were called out around 5:00 a.m. to the 1800 block of South 6th Street where they found flames shooting from the second floor of a 3-story row home and quickly went to work battling the blaze.

Crews quickly called in additional firefighters, many of whom had just returned from an earlier fatal fire on Watkins Street.

The fire was quickly brought under control by 5:13 a.m.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
